Ben Ptashnik is president and co-founder of the National Election Defense Coalition (NEDC). He is a retired Vermont state senator, serving on the Vermont Senate Government Operations Committee, where he sponsored and passed Vermont's Clean Elections Act, reform aimed at reducing the influence of money in politics, and creating public funding of elections for state-wide offices.

Ben also served on the Vermont Senate Health and Welfare Committee as co-chair; served on the Economic Development, Housing and Agriculture Committees; and was appointed to the Vermont Judicial Nominating Committee. Ben was also co-founder of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility, and former hairman of the Vermont Public Interest Research Group, Vermont’s largest environmental and government watchdog organization.
