Take Civic Action

Use your corporate voice and influence to foster trust and collaboration in public life

Promoting cooperation and mutual respect in public life is a responsibility businesses can embrace. Through public affairs, philanthropic choices, and engagement with policymakers, companies help set the tone for constructive, bipartisan dialogue and build a more resilient democratic system.

  • Support cross-partisan initiatives that foster civil political discourse in public forums, coalitions, and media.
  • Align political and charitable giving to help promote social cohesion and support long-term civic and economic well-being.
  • Champion bipartisan reforms that improve government function, promote citizen participation, and provide stakeholders with balanced, values-aligned policy insights.

Use your influence to back leaders and initiatives that prioritize collaboration over partisanship and help build a healthier political system that works for everyone.

Business for America | Public Policy Advocacy

Through strategic advocacy, coalition-building, and public education, BFA empowers companies to support bipartisan reforms that make government more effective, elections more secure and accessible, and institutions more accountable. Center for Political Accountability

The Center for Political Accountability works collaboratively with companies to improve transparency and increase accountability in corporate political spending. Their CPA-Zicklin Index of Corporate Political Disclosure and Accountability is the only measure of electoral spending transparency and accountability for the country’s largest public corporations. The index measures performance in disclosure, company political spending decision-making policies, and board oversight and accountability policies. To learn more, please see the Guide to Becoming a Model Code Company, which explains the Model Code, how it helps companies manage political spending in a high-risk environment, and how to implement the code.

The CPR Hub

Corporate Political Responsibility (CPR) is a framework of best practices that strengthens how companies make decisions about public affairs and political activity. The CPR Hub provides practical, nonpartisan tools that help leaders clarify when, why, and how to engage — and how to align their political influence with stated values, long-term business strategy, and societal impact. Principled engagement not only reduces risk; it also helps cool the temperature of public debate, encourages more collaborative policymaking, and strengthens trust in business as a steady, responsible partner in civic life. Across the Aisle: Bipartisan Events with Lawmakers

In April 2025, Across the Aisle: How Leaders Find Common Ground in a Divided Era brought together an audience of business, government, and public affairs leaders near Capitol Hill for an inspiring, solutions-focused program on bridging divides in today’s polarized political climate.

Business for America | Building Civic Bridges Act

Workplace polarization is costing American businesses billions in lost productivity, rising turnover, and toxic work environments. With nearly half of workers reporting political disagreements on the job and incivility costing companies an estimated $2 billion per day, the economic toll of division is real. That’s why the business community supports the bipartisan Building Civic Bridges Act—a commonsense investment in national unity. By funding proven bridgebuilding programs through grants to nonprofits, veterans, and faith-based groups, this legislation offers a practical, bipartisan response to the deepening divides that affect both our democracy and our economy.
