Hims & Hers

Hims and hers offers a modern approach to health and wellness. Our mission is to eliminate stigmas and make it easier for people to access care and treatment for the conditions that impact their daily lives. That starts with creating an open and honest culture of care that is accessible for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live. Since launching in November 2017, we’ve raised over $200MM in funding and are one of the fastest growing direct-to-consumer brands in history.

Q&A

Andrew Dudum, Founder & CEO

Why is a healthy democracy important to achieving your company’s purpose?

A healthy democracy is the underpinning of our country, society, and business community. Creating this environment requires an engaged electorate that participates in the democratic process and encourages our leaders to put meaningful solutions forward on our most pressing issues. During the pandemic the way we all accessed healthcare fundamentally changed, and it was important to have Americans involved in the political process to develop creative solutions to go about their daily lives, in a very different way, and allow people to get the care they needed. Accessing personalized care like the type available through our platform, requires our government to regulate and legislate responsibility on healthcare issues.

Why are voting rights important to your business?

Civic participation is important to our customers, partners, and employees - and ultimately to our business. We have seen again and again that customers are looking for brands to lead with their values, and one of ours is engaging in the civic conversation that is currently happening in our country.

How do you encourage your employees to become more civically engaged?

At Hims & Hers part of our mission is to create an open and empowered employee culture. We do this by celebrating and supporting the whole person, including their right to be civically engaged. During the 2020 election we offered employees the day off to vote and provided opportunities for education about voting and volunteering during the election.

What are your company’s other projects to help support voters, protect elections, and overcome political divides?

As a brand that has attracted and heavily engaged GenZ and Millennial consumers, our customers expect us to engage in the public conversation on our most pressing issues. To that end, we use our public channels to encourage our community to engage civic conversation and participate in voting.

Why did you decide to become a member of Business for America?

During the 2020 election, we partnered with Business for America’s Operation Vote Safe — a program that was instrumental in our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) strategy at Hims & Hers. We valued the guidance and leadership provided by Business for America regarding best practices in executing a well-rounded, inclusive and successful program. Our partnership with Business for America has been an ongoing valuable resource for learning more about the issues of the day and finding ways to engage.
