Free campaign invites business leaders nationwide to write a personal letter of hope marking America’s 250th
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Business for America (BFA) has is bringing businesses and organizations together around a simple idea: invite business leaders across the country to write A Birthday Letter to America — a personal letter to their employees, members, and communities about what America's 250th anniversary means to them, what their organization stands for, and what they believe this country can be.
The campaign is part of Together for 250, BFA's nonpartisan, business-led initiative marking America's semiquincentennial. Leaders are invited to write and send their letters in June, ahead of July 4th. Those who choose to share their letters publicly will be featured in a national showcase at TF250.US/letter and included in a coordinated press moment in mid-June.
“Business leaders are good at a lot of things. Knowing what to say when the country feels divided isn't always one of them — not because they don't care, but because they've been waiting for the right moment,” said Sarah Bonk, founder and CEO of Business for America. “Our nation’s 250th is that moment. We're just handing them the pen.”
A Birthday Letter to America asks one thing of participating leaders: write a letter. In their own voice, on their own terms, grounded in the arc of American history, the founding values that have shaped this country, and the role business plays in civic life. Participation is free, nonpartisan, and open to any U.S.-based company, chamber of commerce, or business association.
To make participation as easy as possible, BFA has developed a comprehensive suite of free resources available to all participants upon sign-up, including a library of 18 sample letters, a nine-theme messaging guide, a partner communications toolkit, and more.
“We designed this campaign to be highly accessible, easy to activate, and genuinely impactful for busy leaders and communications teams,” said Chip York, marketing and communications director at Business for America. "The tools are there. The themes are there. What matters most isn’t polished language — it’s sincerity. The most meaningful letters will sound human, hopeful, and true to the people behind them.”
Business leaders and organizations interested in participating can sign up and access all free resources at TF250.US/letter.
